Ben Markbreiter (they/them, he/him) is a third year Jewish Studies Honours and History Minor at McGill University from New York. They have been in the last two McGill Savoy Society productions, Iolanthe and Ruddigore, both times in the chorus, and both times as the Cast Member at Large. They are thrilled to be coming back to the society as its President. In addition to being President, they are heavily involved in the McGill Jewish community, as a previous executive member in religious groups and as a current board member of the Jewish Studies Student Association.
Hanna is a fourth-year Honours History student with a minor in World Cinema from Toronto (or “Turonohhh”)! After being Marketing Director last year, she is excited to wield her non-existent power as Vice-President and annoy Ben as much as possible. After a summer working with SummerWorks Festival and the Myseum of Toronto, she’s thrilled to get back onstage with Savoy. Previous credits include Janet in Mainline’s upcoming Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sharpay Evans in High School Musical 2 at the University of Glasgow, Desdemona in TNC’s Desdemona: A Play About a Handkerchief and Phyllis in Iolanthe.
Nicole (she/her) is a fourth year student in the Music Education program at McGill. Nicole started her Savoy Exec journey back in her first year as Orchestra MAL, after playing viola in the pit orchestra. Later, she became Secretary and made lots of fun social media content for Savoy. She has enjoyed it so much that she's back at it again! In the little spare time that she has, Nicole likes riding her bike, eating lots of cheese, and watching Canadian television. In addition to her involvement with Savoy, Nicole also serves as the Music Education Undergraduate Student Association President.
Jayden (she/her, they/them) is a fourth-year Sociology student from Vancouver, BC. She joined the Society in 2017 as its Publications Director, soon besting anybody who stood in her way to become the powerful Madame Treasurer she is now. When Jayden is not very coolly dealing with Savoy's budgets and audits, she also serves as the AUS Legislative Council's Recording Secretary. Jayden enjoys complaining to her friends, bittersweet love songs, Kirby, and telling you to follow her on Instagram (@jkydenkang).
Cast Member at Large (MAL)
Michael is a third-year McGill student in English Literature and Computer Science from Windsor, Ontario a.k.a. that one city you can’t find on the map. He has been a part of the Savoy chorus for two years since joining their production of Iolanthe and has been a MAL since last year’s Ruddigore. When he doesn’t have his nose buried in a book or a keyboard Michael has fun running around the mountain, watching Jeopardy!, and being a very mediocre chef.
Luke Horton is in his fourth year at McGill University studying Political Science and Theatre. He has previously acted in various McGill plays and tried to become even more involved in the theatre community. Upon meeting the members of the McGill Savoy Society, Luke was drawn by the theatre company’s production style and the history behind it. He is very excited to be working on timeless Gilbert and Sullivan operettas with such a dynamic team.
Little Cast Member at Large (MAL)
Alice Wu (she/her) is a new U1 student studying English and Political Science. After playing several murderous old ladies in high school plays, she was most recently seen as Bolom in TNC’s production of Ti-Jean and His Brothers. She was also a competitive public speaker and slam poet in high school. Outside of theatre, she can be found chatting up a storm, dreaming up her own stories, or living vicariously through cooking shows. She is excited to work with such a supportive and dedicated exec team and put on her first Savoy show this year!
